Born in the UK and living in Santa Fe, I paint intuitively, embracing color and texture inspired by the landscape around me. Living inbetween the Jemez and Sangre de Cristo Mountains under the vast sky of New Mexico, I'm surrounded by the powerful ever-changing palette provided by nature. It is a daily gift.
Art has been a part of me throughout my life, from screen printing in high school to sharing my knowledge of art as a docent at both the Frist Center for the Visual Arts in Nashville and the McNay Art Museum in San Antonio. I have always admired primitive and abstract art - the simplicity of line, juxtaposition of color, shape and form that the imagination can fill with memories, dreams and personal connotations. I hope you have similar pleasure in finding your own connections within my work.
Winters Gallery in Santa Fe showcases the work of Todd Abbott Winters, a lifelong professional painter. A working studio, local artists Beth Schmor and I are also represented at Todd's gallery, along with the photography of Rowdy Winters. One of us is there each day and we look forward to sharing our work with you!
